This method is very time consuming as each piece of paper is folded in half. Then each folded paper is sewn together by a thread. Coptic stitching is very famous since the first set of Bibles were made this way.

Square spine with pages held in place by strong acid free glue. The pages are usually card stock.  The perfectbound books consist of 50 sheets of paper glued at the spine with end sheets and front and back cover.

Saddle-stitched binding is among the easiest and most common methods of booklet binding. It is a soft type of binding which uses staples on the seam or spine of a book or a booklet where it folds. It is ideal for binding smaller booklets that don't have plenty of pages, such as books, brochures, and catalogs which are under 100 pages.

Bio

Hello!  This is Stitched Goweli journals.  Goweli means paper in Cherokee. I have been making journals for friends and family since 2012.

I upcycle anything from cereal & candy boxes, leather from old ripped furniture to make covers, to making my own paper. I use hemp or cotton thread to sew the signatures together.

Most journals consist of a signature, which is 4 sheets of paper folded in half to make 16 pages.
